Teaching Robotics for Youth

An interactive and engaging prototyping and designing environment

One of my passions includes teaching kids and youth. I am very lucky to have this opportunity to inspire young lives at Mississauga Code Club (MCC).

As a robotics instructor and a curriculum developer, I have developed the robotics for the youth program at MCC. In this program, I introduce youth to the amazing world of physical computing through Arduino and C programming language.

In addition to technical skills, I coach teens in the creative problem solving (CPS) process. This helps students with the ideation process when it comes to coming up with innovative and original ideas. Youth also benefit from the CPS process when implementing and fabricating their concepts.

Other Duties at MCC

I help other instructors in facilitating their classes. I have helped in many courses throughout the years that I have been a member of the MCC Team. This includes disciplines that I am knowledgeable in such as:

  • Visual Basic
  • Java
  • Robotics for Kids
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Digital Arts for Girls.
What am I up to now?

I am currently teaching “Introduction to robotics for youth” for a second session. Simultaneously, I am developing the curriculum for the next level of MCC’s Robotics for youth course. In this project-based course, youth will have a chance to further develop their physical computing skills by creating more sophisticated projects such as autonomous robots. In the course, I will also go more in depth about the Design Process and steps required to build a successful prototypes.
